The Indian Media is getting into a frenzy as Obama names Indian-American Sonal Shah in advisory team. The most amusing part is their repeated usage of term "INDIAN AMERICAN". Even though her father moved to US when she was Two Years old.

By the same standards why is Sonia Gandhi NOT referred as Italian Indian? After all she is here only after 25 years of her life ?

its common in america to address only the whites as americans.
Others are usually addressed by their race+american.
    eg:a black person=african american
an oriental person = asian american
    an indian person= indian american

Anyways, no one can change the fact tht though sonia holds an indian passport her blood is italian. Its not abt how long u stay in a country. Its abt wat runs in ur veins.

Well here we can see the big difference in cultures. India is always warm at heart and this is very well seen with the Indian media as well in the case of Obama announcing the name of Sonal Singh in his advisory team. Though there are comments that there are lot discrimination in India, but after some time people willing accept to the changes and carry on. On the other side, where people say that western people accept the change fast, but their true reaction is evident from the way they address people of different origin. This shows than Indian accepts the change well than other nations and probably that is the reason why even after facing so many invasion India is still standing tall.

well it is upto the media how they would like to portray a person. but there should not be any discrimination and if there is, it should be for one and all. if media addresses someone in way like mentioned, it should mention people in india also the same way as its act should be justified.

This is really a big time hypocrisy from the media's end. The indian media does a lot of home work in copying stuff and mannerism from the foreign media, but when it comes to such matters it shows bias. All this is to gain sympathy because she is in power, but indian media fails to stand on its own legs without fear of being influenced by any sort of power.

Media is the mirror of the society but it has been witnessed in recent times that media has become hypocrite. They portray things that are not always real to gain some sympathy from others but this is wrong. Indian media has lost its track and have forgotten its responsibility. Indian media has been given the freedom of speech and expression which should be exercised with responsibility towards the society.
