The launch of Swift car by Maruti Suzuki had revolutionized the car souk and it was a turning point for the car manufacturing industry in India and since then, car manufacturers started to consider launching of contemporary cars that swayed the best style. This is one of the highest selling hatchback cars of India, which got a lot of appreciation and people were willing to pay for it. The Swift is available with a 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engine. The design and style of the Swift was hugely contemporary even after five plus years of its stay in the Indian automotive scene. Nevertheless, the car had to contend head and tow with the new competitors in the market, who came up with enhanced styling, handling and loaded with new features. It was time for the Maruti Suzuki to bring in a Swift into the market and came up with the new one. Design and interiors The Swift is based on an all-new platform that is longer and larger than the older platform making the car look long and big at the same time. The Swift is 90 mm longer than the older one and exhibits a new grille and flared out headlamps. The new noticeable feature is the turn indicators that are neatly placed on the outer rear-view mirrors. The major difference is in the rear section where the boot is now more distinct which differentiates the new Swift from the old. The tail lamps, like the headlamps are more fared backwards. The Swift's interiors are very fashionable with rich black interiors that have chrome accents. The ergonomics are enhanced and new cascade centre console offers the stylish and chic feel. Even the upholstery is far better than the old model. The body enfolding seats are makes it comfortable to sit and travel for long hours. The rear split seats is however missing from the Swift. The Maruti Suzuki LXI/LDI features lane change indicator, fuel consumption display, , parcel tray, tilt steering, head light on reminder, key in slot reminder, low fuel warning lamp, seat belt unfastened reminder, manual AC, Immobiliser , body coloured bumpers and power steering,. Adding to these features, the VXI/VDI comes with electric ORVMS with Indicators, keyless entry with security alarm, chrome door cabin side handles, power windows all around, central locking, fog lamps both at front and rear, body colored ORVMs, body colored door handles, wheel caps, day night in-cabin mirror. The ZXI/ZDI as some more additional features like height-adjustable driver seat, integrated turn indicators on ORVMs, rear wiper washer and defogger, steering wheel controls, integrated audio system, auto AC, 15-inch alloys, six speaker audio with 4-speakers and two tweeters. The Maruti Suzuki Swift is big on safety and the Dual Airbags and ABS-EBD are the main safety features, which will be available on both the petrol and diesel engined top-end models. The Swift also comes with a six layer polymer based fuel tank, which is lighter than the metal fuel tank of the older version. MARUTI SUZUKI SWIFT Technology , Performance and efficiency Maruti Suzuki Swift is available in both petrol and diesel variants. The petrol variants of Swift is powered by a 1.2L K-Series engine with VVT technology pumps out a power of 85 bhp while churning out a torque of 114 Nm, while the diesel car is powered by a 1.3L DDiS engine which pumps out a power of 74 bhp and a torque of 190 Nm. Both the engines are coupled with a 5-speed manual transmission. The enhanced fuel efficiency of the petrol engine now stands at 18.6 kmpl, about 4 percent increase in fuel efficiency than the outdated model. The diesel engine powered Swift also boasts of a striking fuel efficiency of 22.9 kmpl, about 6 percent more than the previous model. The fuel efficiency can also be credited to the reduction in the weight of the Swift. The petrol Swift is lighter by 30 kg when compared to the older version and the diesel by 15 kg. For suspension, the Swift has McPherson struts for the front and Torsion beam for the rear, which ensures that the best of the ride quality. It also has ventilated disc brakes for the front and drum brakes for the rear. With 4.8 m turning radius, the Swift has rack and pinion steering as standard on all the variants. However, according to me, this car is a good value for money and is worth buying.
