In the year 2008, Maruti Suzuki launched the Swift Dzire, an entry level sedan specially made for India. The car has been a huge success and Maruti has sold more than 300,000 cars in the four years that it’s been around. The Swift DZire is loaded with many features, striking looks, luxurious interiors and many safety components. At present the vehicle has become compact with the length being less than 4 m, which helps it eligible for the excise duty benefits offered by the government of India cars which are less than 4 m in length. The Swift DZire available in petrol are the following variants- LDI, VDI, ZDI in diesel and LXI, VXI, ZXI, AUTOMATIC . Engine and fuel efficiency The Swift DZire offers a choice to the customers as it comes with two different technology engines, one is the 1197 cc 4-cylinder K-Series petrol engine with VVT churns out a power of 86 bhp @ 6000 rpm and a maximum torque of 114 Nm @ 4000 rpm and the other is 1248 cc 4-cylinder DDiS engine delivers 74 bhp @ 4000 rpm and a maximum torque of 190 Nm @ 2000 rpm. It comes with an option of 4-speed automatic transmission and the 5-speed manual transmission. The suspension system of the Swift DZire consists of McPherson supported with coil spring in the front and Torsion-beam with coil spring in the rear which imparts higher mounting inflexibility and stability. The Swift DZire has ventilated disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear. Design and Interiors The Swift DZire has a perfect mix of style and substance with its bold design and superb body dynamics. It has a rear fog lamp, body coloured bumper, green tinted glass, front fog lamp and high mounted stop lamp that imparts a sophisticated look. The ORVM with integrated turn indicators, the design of front grille and headlamps give a sophisticated look to the automobile. The boot space meets the rear easily and gives a classy finish to the car. The interior of the Swift DZire is comfortable with centre armrest, seat height adjuster, air conditioner, sun visor, remote back door opener, audio antenna, front head restraint, cup-holder and remote fuel lid opener. The instrument panel and the console includes speedometer, seat belt reminder, light-on reminder buzzer, Key-on reminder buzzer, door closure warning lamp and a multi functional display depicting the fuel consumption, trip/odometer and digital clock. The boot space has been reduced from 440 litres to 316 litres. The Swift DZire has been designed keeping the highest safety standards in mind. It is equipped with many safety features which include ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with BA (Brake Assist) and EDC (Engine Drag Control) that prevents skidding and helps in ensuring a minimum stopping distance on slippery surface. However, the reduced boot space is the only drawback of the new Maruti Suzuki’s new Swift Dzire.According to me it is one of the best Sedan car for women drivers too.
