Unlike any other Big Fat Indian wedding, Malayalee weddings are solemnized in a very simple way. They do not follow any detailed rituals and the pre-wedding ceremony starts with engagement wherein the bride and the groom exchange rings and exchange of nishchaya thaamboolam by both the families. The wedding ritual is cut-short wherein both the bride and the groom seeks blessings from their elders and the conjugal knot is tied in a temple or on the wedding venue or at the bride’s ancestral home. The wedding is then followed by reception where a grand traditional feast is organized followed by Grihapravesham. The overall Malayalee wedding is a simple and short affair.
