Maharashtrian weddings are different from other weddings as it is performed during the day time. The wedding depicts the Maharashtrian tradition and culture. It is a three day long affair which includes pre-wedding, wedding and post wedding rituals. The pre-wedding ceremony starts with exchanging packets of sugar between both the families of the bride and groom which is followed by a few pujas and haldi. The wedding ceremony is a short affair which is solemnized in a religious way. The post wedding ceremony is divided into two parts. It starts with the reception which is a grand affair and is organized by the bride’s family. It is then followed by Varat wherein, the bride leaves her maternal home and starts a new journey of her life. It is then followed by a few other rituals which are part of the Maharashtrian culture.

Altogether Maharashtrian weddings are a real treat to be witnessed. Every ritual from pre-wedding to post wedding is unique in its own way and depicts the diverse Indian culture.
