Something must be settled on at the very outset – this is not the first time when Kashmir is in news. The entire region, to be precise, has been in news from 1947-48 at a stretch (during the tutelage of Maharaja Hari Singh) and for all wrong reasons. The region that was bifurcated into two halves under the insistence (rather sinister designs) of Pakistan gained prominence in the year 1990 yet again, the year that saw the rising of Pakistani-backed Kashmiri separatists, and the mass expulsion of Kashmiri Hindu Pundits, residing in the region for thousands of years, if not more.

What has been going on from then on in the valley has become almost a yearly ritual – mass eruption of violence on any issue, chanting of anti-India slogans, and the pledge to establish Islamic doctrines and hegemony, once and for all. Now the question remains of the options before India to quell this mounting saga of violence, religious frenzy and the venerated restoration of the Hindus in the valley. Our question is very simple. We have been hearing all these pompous words and vows of the Indian governance for decades but there has been nothing except a big zero.

Is there any option before India at all and can Kashmir have tranquility ever? The decade-long experiences and the disturbances of late suggest there can’t be any. Even the separatists’ demand that a political solution gratifying aspirations of Kashmiris via tripartite talks between India, Pakistan and the representatives of Kashmiris, seems to be a distant reality. Should India listen to the moderate demands of All Parties Hurriyat Conference then? It does plead for the elimination of paramilitary bunkers and troops from all cities, major towns of the valley; release of youth arrested during recent clashes and repeal of AFSPA (Armed Forces' Special Powers Act).

The underlying message is clear – expulsion of Indian presence and its Constitution from the valley. How can the situation be dealt with? Even if there seems to be no solution, there is an alternative one. Divide Indian J&K into two states, with Hindu and Muslim majorities respectively. If the Muslim-dominated Kashmir joins Pakistan in due course, it will lead to more discords in the Pakistani soil owing to ethnic, linguistic and other differences. Pakistan may cease to exist in the following years.

Shouldn't we rise and look for a solution? If we cannot solve it by other means shouldn't we at least raise our voice and our opinion.

We shouldn't leave Kashmir to terrorists, if we give Kashmir then they may come back and ask for our whole India. It's a challenge for our INDIAN ARMY and INDIAN GOVT. Shoot-out all the terrorist in a manner that the others are scared to think anything about Kashmir [or] think about even a single Indian Soldier.

J&K is an integral part of India

The recent disturbances in J&K, the issue of Pakistan-sponsored unbridled terrorism and secessionist activities was high on the agenda of the intellectuals who met in the national capital on Thursday.

While endorsing that Jammu and Kashmir is and will remain an integral part of India, a joint declaration was also issued by the intellectuals who agreed that the state was vital for country's security.

For me, Being an INDIAN, Kashmir has to be with India.

Losing it will make India head less.

Moreover we have to take several steps.

    Terrorism has been rooted there.

To check terrorism, we have to make our Line of Control (Border) to be more safe and have to watched through the day with radars and missile ready position to attack anybody in case crosses border. Reduce the soldiers in the LoC and increase the technology to monitor Line of Control.

Another important one is provide employment for all (may be self-help-groups, like wise in Tamil Nadu) and make the youngsters and every one in busy schedule as most of the terrorists are converted from Unemployed. Increase the protection in Kashmir and make people live there safe.

Kashmir is really a sensitive issue. The sad part of it is how world looks at it. I have seen some maps of Kashmir from BBC..
It shows the Kashmir as 2 parts Pakistan Controlled kashmir and India Controlled Kashmir (ICK isnt part of India as per BBC). So, this is how world sees it.
Unless and until our politicians have interest in Kashmir, the issue wont resolve. All of us should raise our voice for this

Kashmir is part of India and always will be. native people of Kashmir are Kashmiripundits imagine how it would feel to be kicked out of your own motherland and loosing it all together? Indian govt will never tell that happen to Pundits. Kashmiri people are suffering now for what they did to pundits its karma what goes around comes around.

Kashmir CANT Survive as independent state its too weak and immune to terrorists.

If Pakistan kicks out taliban from their country taliban will find safe havens in Kashmir which will be very dangerous to India.

UN will never let Kashmir to join Pakistan or become an Independent state...as Pakistan is in verge of collapse & Taliban has already scarred their country big time...

P.S now is the good time to take the issue to UN as you can see Pakistan is weak and getting run over by taliban.. the only way they will resolve this issue is by giving all of Kashmir to India coz its safe for them and India.

    LTTE factor

Drubbing of LTTE by Govt. forces in Sri Lanka may act as a lesson for terrorist organizations active in Kashmir, by the way separatism is more visible inside Kashmir valley and adjoining areas, while people in Jammu and Laddakh are mostly with India.

said or resolved on some so called guidelines made by china or pakistan. it is the issue which depends on what we Indians really want. we want kashmir as our part then it will be our part.all mights of India will protect its commitments. it is we who should not think that it is any unresolved issue or DISPUTED .it is resolved long back .This should be our stand.

Right now, as I am submitting this post there are 42 active terrorists camps and 2000-2500 terrorists in POK, ready to infiltrate India and cause havoc. Enough is enough now.

    1. Identify Pakistan's secret nuclear bases, mobile command center(if there is any), Army & Navel bases, any other strategic locations. Keep handy, nuclear tipped Brahmos missiles(air, army, navy based), Prithvi and Agni missiles. Better be ready than be sorry.

    2. Strike with Jets, when Pakistan least expects and destroy their nuclear installations, air-fields, army & naval bases.

    3. Use AWACS for early missile detection round the clock. Use Jets fitted with nuclear tipped Brahmos missiles for reconnaissance round the clock on the Pakistani border.

    4. Let the Indian Army go deep inside POK, neutralise terrorists and destroy terrorist camps. In the same time, carpet bomb forward air, army bases of Pakistan in POK.

    5. If there is any indication of Pakistan trying to fire nuclear missiles at India (as captured by AWACS), fire nuclear tipped missiles right on those locations. There will be loss of human life, but would be less.
I don't advocate use of nuclear weapons, but if Indians were to suffer, destroy them beforehand.

    6. Block oil, relief and support materials that try to reach Pakistan through the Indian ocean. Let's see how they survive, they anyways live on begging.

    7. After POK has been captured, push through Islamabad, Lahore, Rawalpindi etc. and destroy Pakistan's infrastructure and cripple their economy.

    8. War won, POK won. Concentrate on China!

Anti-national people in Kashmir deserve severe punishment, leave vote-bank politics behind and take Action. Indian government should act strongly against Traitors and Terrorists involved in anti-India activities

    Kashmir belong to India Only

Is there any country across the globe whose each and every citizen is equally affluent and getting the best attention of the government? Is there any country across the globe devoid of problems or differences based on region, language, religion or ethnicity? The answer is straight no. Any such expectation is nothing but a reverie; there can’t be any such country nor there any such country in the history. Even Soviet Union or Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, communist country in Eastern Europe and northern Asia with a colossal worldwide influence, had to deal with such problems (too numerous to be counted). How can then one expect that the dissension in India-controlled Kashmir require international interference? Kashmir issue happens to be the internal problem or matter of India and can be dealt with by the Indian governments only.

Perhaps this simple theory is not accepted by a number of political parties in Jammu & Kashmir, especially the separatists. What can India do then? Should India pay attention to the moderate demands of All Parties Hurriyat Conference in that case? It does plead for the elimination of paramilitary bunkers and*troops from all cities, major towns of the valley; release of youth arrested during recent clashes and repeal of AFSPA (Armed Forces' Special Powers Act). But this is also not a moderate demand; this is a more dangerous plan in disguise. The instant Indian security forces are removed, presence of Indian governments and Constitution of India will cease to exist. The following developments are getting clear already.

There might be the repetition of 1990 style experiment when Kashmiri Pundits were kicked out of the valley. There might be even worse now! Where is the problem then? The problem is surely in the Indian mindset. India has been dealing with the Kashmir issue and its patron Pakistan for decades but from a neutral mindset. If you have to deal with the demons, you ought to be equally brutal and fiendish. It’s high time for India to follow Chanakya who insisted that the King had to be expansionist so as to exist. India must become the same.

Kashmir is an internal issue of India and can be solved by India only.

Effete India is hapless to quell Kashmir disturbances

Ever since the partition of India in 1947, Kashmir has been one of the most contentious issues in the Indian subcontinent. It was expected that controversies would die down with the passing of time. It does not only refuse to die down, with the passing of years more and more fuel is being added to the fire. Now the question remains where this dispute leads India to. Is India winning the battle of Kashmir or has been losing only? India, in order to retain Kashmir within its fold, has been providing Article 370; a huge burden on the entire national economy. Can any Indian political party dare to put an end to the same Article? To do the same there is the need of courage and Indian leadership has been effete ever since the independence.

What have successive Indian governments do to restore the hapless Kashmiri Pundits in the valley? Whether it is nationalist Congress or self-claimed custodian of Hindu society BJP, both have been insolvent with regard to this issue. The ongoing disturbances in Kashmir, almost insurgency-like situation and the effete pleading of Indian political leadership are a continuation of the same tradition. We have got to conclude India does not have the will (at least) to deal with or track down anti-India elements in Kashmir valley, forget of its power.

Why is India not serious of tracking down anti-India elements in Kashmir valley? This question is quite obvious. The one and only answer is India doesn’t know what to do. Have you ever found any intellectual discourse in India speaking of the ways to quell Kashmir disturbances and join it with Indian mainstream? You can’t find any; India is too humanitarian, socialist and all that are enough to execute its own position.

India should learn from China and the ways through which it dealt with disturbances in Urumqi under the Uighur Muslim ethnic minority. Can India do the same? How can you expect India to be so masculine?

Take the Khalistan movement of 80s into consideration. Even though the movement was restricted to the state of Punjab and its vicinity and in particular with a specific section of the Sikh community, it became a national issue as it had far-reaching consequences. Not only did the issue influence the Sikh community but the international diplomatic position of India (being accused by Khalistan activists as instigator of human rights violations) was at stake. The situation with regard to Kashmir is just the same, if not more. It is no longer a movement limited within the boundaries of a Muslim-dominated state but has been spreading its nefarious tentacles all over the country.

Fear in Minds of Kashmiri people

    Time heals everything!

True, wat is happening in the Kashmir valley today will be settled after sme time but ....................

Today the Indian govt is working to restore peace,But where????????............. on land!!!!!!!!!!

Peace resides n the mind and hearts of the people....... so what about the peace, can we restore it?

What frightens is not the accident but it wounds, as they last long........ the images which resides in the minds for the life............ the pain....

The question is after the so called restored peace in the Kashmir valley will these wound heal up or will they serve as an anger medium to Nurture TERRORISM?

Aren't these failures of such a lukewarm leadership igniting or accomplicing terrorism.........

There is a simple solution to end this bloody controversy. bring back the kashmiri pundits in kashmir and settle them in army cantonments. Kashmiri pundits can even play the role of informers also because they hate terrorists , love Army and familiar with the geography of their state.

    J & K issue

Jammu and Kashmir is the crown of India and losing it would be a shame to India. No terrorist should be allowed to infiltrate into the Kashmir region, such should be the security lines around the border. I think it is time India should break its silence and take some stringed action towards Pakistan and the insurgents and teach them a lesson.

The issue of Jammu and Kashmir started with the time of Independence when Pakistan illegally occupied the northern most part of Kashmir and a wrong decision by our then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru which was due to lack of foresightedness. The only solution to this problem is that India should now take a stern step against Pakistan and let them know that Kashmir has always and will always remain an integral part of India.
