Union Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh refused to withdraw the Jaitapur Nuclear Plant plans. He however maintains that new security features will be drawn up for individual reactors to prevent a disaster like the Fukushima Plant in Japan. Do you think we need to rethink about nuclear plants near populated areas after Nuclear Crisis in japan ?

in my view yes, we should give it a deep thought by looking into our future and be prepared for the worst. the officials are lazy enough to think so far and prepare for it. people should raise voice against the jaita pur plant because india may also face earthquake at some point of time and at that time we should not be sorry like the japanese and instead be prepared for it.

i don't think withdrawing the plant would be a good option because we need to be secure in energy in near future because india is growing and the energy demands are also increasing day by day.. under such circumstances, depending completely on conventional energy resources wont help.. rather indian scientists could be deployed to work on safety issues of nuclear plant and design a safe plant for india
