A lawyer can be sued if he does not perform his duties towards his client under the Advocate's Act, 1961 as per the rules laid down by the bar Council Of India as well as under the Consumer Protection Act. It is the duty of a lawyer and it is the ethics of the profession that he should perform his duty towards his clients. Any breach of ethics or duty as prescribed in the books of professional ethics, a lawyer can be sued by lodging a complaint in the disciplinary committee of the Bar Council under Advocate"s Act, 1961 as well as Consumer Protection Act.
