Is there a limit to equality?

We often talk about equal rights for men and women. We want women to be treated in the same way as men are. But how far is this practical ?

What do you feel? Is equality possible? Is it wrong to have double standards in everything? Or is it OK at times to differentiate between the sexes?

Please share your views, if possible with examples.

As a basic principle, laws are not made to create equality, laws are made to create harmony in society/state.

Personally I feel that difference in biological role creates certain differences between a man and a woman, but not much. For example men are more inclined to living with and protecting their biological family in comparision to females. Reason: like all animals living in groups/packs, individual belonging to a particular sex is biologically programmed to leave his/her group (in which it was born) to join a new group, and in all primates & hominids its the female who is programmed to leave her biological family to join a new family for breeding.

This is one of the major reason why women don't have any natural rights over paternal land/property in any country in this world; discriminatory but logical.

There are many better things that we crave for, but never really happen. Reality bites.

i think we cannot be equal in the exact sense
Men and Woman are different, they are both designed differently to withstand different things. And that is the issue people need to understand.
i live in the west where ideas are modern, and laws are equal for both sexes. However, even the west suffers in the sense that women are not in harmony and true success because they are too busy in battling with the sexes rather then realising their own responsibilities.

one thing people need to understand is that happiness and successes does not lie in the battle of the sexes and ensuring equal duties of both genders, rather we should take on board our own capabilities.
Despite many equal issues in western societies like mine, no one can deny that men are better at various things than woman or vice versa. It is because men and women are two different types.
they are physically and spiritually designed different, they are opposite, hence they attract :)
