Racism refers to the discrimination and prejudices committed against the people belonging to a particular cultural human race on the basis of color, skin, facial features, etc. With the continuous violence and crimes committed against the Northeast Indians entirely depicts that we have failed as Indians who are supposed to belong to the multicultural human race. We talk big, but still we observe ongoing "racism" against a particular race of people. Life for the northeast Indians in the capital city is particularly not so much welcoming. Young girls arrived for educational and work purposes have to face many prejudices from the other groups of people, including friends, colleagues, seniors and others. Many Northeast Indian girls have complained it more often that their lifestyles and actions are all so much pointed and counted by the other people. In fact their status and self-respect is always questioned.

What is more important to know here is that it is not always the Northeast Indians, but "racism" has been persisting in many parts of India. People tend to make differences on the basis of facial features, but fail to see the beauty of the hearts, they fail to realize the unity in multicultural diversity. They tend to stick to the tags of being Bengali, Assame, Manipuri orGarhwali but, fail to see that we all are "Indians".

If India claims to be a singular united nation; a nation that is one in many bodies, racism should not be there!

The racism is not only against the Northeast Indian girls but also of the north against the south. South Indians face discrimination in the North and vice versa.

I have heard of situations in which a South Indian refuses to share the charger of her phone with a North Indian while travelling in a bus. Apart from that North Indians talk ill about South Indians very often!

How can we bring about a change here?
