IS our country officially called India, Bharat or Hindustan? If you're a little unsure, take heart, for the Home Ministry doesn't know either. RTI activist Manoranjan Roy realized this when he filed a query with the Union Home Ministry seeking to clear his doubts on the subject and was told that they had 'no information on the subject'. "In English, the country is called India; it is referred to as Bharat in Hindi and in Urdu as Hindustan. If our country is called by so many different names, what is its original one? I filed the RTI query to find out exactly that," said Roy. The reply (copy with MiD DAY), however, shocked Roy and he now plans to move court. "If a commoner changes his name, he has to go through a legal process. However, here the government doesn't even know the official name of the country. I plan to file a PIL to find out if our country has an official name and a national language," he said. http: //timesofindia.hotklix. com/link/News/India/Our-country-has-no-official-name
Well, the names are three but the different names have emerged because of the advancement of nation in due course of time. Bharat is our ancient name, the first name to our country, even before the islams invaded our nation. Hindustan came later after the invasion of islams and India is the new generation name. However government must take responsibility to give our country an official name and an official language because we are on the verge of becoming a super power.
How does it matter if you call india, bharat or hindustan. I guess the feelings should not be changed from the hearts. If you call hindustan or india or bharat that does not make any difference. you should always go for the feelings for the country and work for the benefits of it. You should try always to remove corruption from the country keeping the feelings same.
India was first called as Aryavrat. Bharat was named after Mahabharat epic. Country was divided into smaller parts and it was renamed as Bharat. Hindustan was name given by Muslin invaders and popularized by English for their divide and rule policy. In English it is called as India. India was derived from a Persian word Indos (after Indus river).
Manish if we will go for this RTI then even im sure the half of the politician will not be able to define " democracy" and even their duties. They really need kicks.
