If you have been noticing for a long time that your young child is staying asleep or wakes up too early, feels sleepy in the rest of the day, feels irritable then surely these things should not be ignored because your child might be suffering from the problem of Insomnia. Insomnia is basically a sleeping disorder in which the child/person feels problem with falling asleep and stays asleep all the night or might wake up too early in the midnight. This disorder of sleep might be divided in two parts; the short-term insomnia and long term insomnia. In the short term insomnia the sleeping disorder might last for just few days or weeks because the causes/reasons for this disorder are also temporary (sickness, after effect of any medicine). But the long term insomnia is little to worry because it might last for weeks, and months and become troublesome for the child without taking any medical advice. This sleeping disorder is most commonly found in the young children these days. Life has truly become much competitive and furious. Not even the youngsters are untouched from the impact. In fact they feel more burdened and frustrated in comparison to the elders. There is so much of work pressure in the schools, peer pressure is there, competition among students and friends, their curiosity makes them too much restless and impatient they want to explore and know everything at one time, there is so much anxiety among them, they might be facing environmental issues at schools and even in the home, there might be personal issues with others, some young children unfortunately get involved in unhealthy addictions at an early age (drugs, smoking). There might also be a possibility that this sleeping disorder has been caused due to some medical problem in the child such as stuffy nostrils, nighttime asthma, fibromyalgia, muscle cramps, thyroid disorder, heart burns and etc. once the parents are able to diagnose this disorder in their child for a long time then they should take a medical help and at their part they should also provide a relaxing and calm atmosphere for the child. Parents should talk and discuss with the child about his/her reasons of mental stress and any other problem. Behavioral therapy can also be practiced with the help of a medical professional. Parents should make the child feel happy and comfortable at the night time, playing soothing music for the child might help with sleeping easily. For best results parents can also seek the herbal and natural treatments for this disorder in their child.
