India is a nation that has a majority of young population that belongs to the age group of 25 years to 35 years. This group of population is intelligent, hard working, educated and has the potential to change the nation into a developed one. However, the older generation people in the society deem that today’s youth are not patriotic and does not possess any of the Indian values. They have a perception that the young generation of India follows a westernised culture and has no respect for the nation. Although, this generation might have not seen the Independence struggle or the other post Independence wars, they still have the Indian values and patriotism inculcated deep within.

The young population of India can be said to be more patriotic than the older generation as they know their rights and have the courage to fight against the injustice as well as social evils. No doubt that they wear, eat and also to a certain extend follow the western culture, but the love for their motherland still exist. Today’s youth have become more possessive about their nationality and give more importance to it, rather than caste, creed and religion. As this generation is more educated, they understand the importance of development and are aware of the issues that India is facing. They have started taking interest in Indian politics and do not support anyone blindly. Furthermore, today several Indian youths join the armed forces with an attitude to serve the motherland. They also take part in several development programs that are conducted by non-profit organizations as well as by government. Today, they also take a lot of interest in joining the service industry.

Today , youth of India is more concerned about the development of the nation and they know that without their effort and contribution; India can never become a developed nation. This young generation of india makes use of voting rights judiciously and they are not ready to elect any political leader in the name of religion, caste or creed. These things prove that Young Indians are patriotic, ready to do anything and everything for their motherland.
