Indian sports women are now emerging as the sport stars in the modern era and they are grabbing the whole attention and admiration that is not only coming only from the females but from both sexes. The foremost name that we can count is the name of Sania Nehwal; a Badminton player and who has become very popular in each and every Indian home today. In the world ranking she ranks at the 3rd rank presently. The youth likes her; ‘never-give up’ and passionate attitude.

Then we have another emerging youth icon is Dipika Pallikal; she is the first ever female Squash player who has set a place in the International 100 rankings. At her very early age of 6years she began to play her first tournament. She is amiable among the youth for her atypical love for sports.

In the recent years Wrestling among the females has been emerging like a boon and as a different dimension of sports. Sonika Kaliraman is the name of that rising star of wrestling who has been the only woman who represented the Indian contingent in the Asian Games. She is a married woman and she has been immensely liked among the youth for her unusual physical strength and eccentric attitude.

Then we have Shikha Tandon the Swimming Champion who has won 36 medals in many international championships. She has made the country so proud of her because she has very efficiently made the right use of the better infrastructure and facilities provided. She is energetic and steadfast in her field of sport.

And last but not the least we have Mitali Raj, the erstwhile captain of Indian Women’s Cricket Team. She possesses the record of scoring the highest runs and earned tremendous praise for scoring 214 runs against England in Touton. She has proved to the world that cricket could not only be a male dominated sport. Her persistent efforts has made her the Youth Icon of the modern era.
