A good legal system leads to good governance. However, Indian laws have failed to meet its desired objectives. The reason behind this is that Indian laws have become outdated. With modernization, there comes many challenges and problems and the laws that are in India, are inefficient to meet the challenges. The laws that are inforce in India was enacted even before India's Independence. How can these laws meet the new challenges that India is facing and more over how can justice be done on the basis of these outdated laws? What are your views?

Laws are made on the basis of customs as well and Indian law, although made ages ago is also based on customs, nevertheless there are other sources like legislation etc. The Indian Penal Code which came into force in 1860 is still valid and is all-inclusive and is capable of dealing with the present situations as well. A few amendments in the laws are enough to deal with the present conditions. It is not outdated rather it lacks proper implementation.

Indian Legal system is flawed and the laws are outdated to meet the present day crimes that are increasing day by day. The laws that are based on customs still needs to be reformed in order to meet the crimes that are taking place today, specially laws related to rapes which are increasing in India and the victims have to go through a lot of mental torture if they seek the help of Law. The whole legal system needs to be reformed and new laws should be made to deal with the present day crimes.

Indian laws needs reformation if we want to change the whole system of the Nation. However, Indian laws are outdated and also lacks proper implementation. The laws are not capable of handling the present crimes and proper laws should be made to deal with the increasing crimes. The increasing number of rapes is the result of outdated laws. Moreover, the whole legal system is flawed so laws are not implemented properly.

I would not agree that Indian laws are outdated but Indian laws lack proper interpretation and implementation. Crime in various forms are increasing in India and this is not because of outdated laws but it is because of lack of proper implementation of laws. Indian Penal Code which decides the punishment for various crimes was enacted in 1860 has punishments for crimes that even takes place today, but of course with some amendments now and then but the IPC is a proof that Indian laws are not outdated.
