India possesses a rich culture full of diversity and unique features and its Art Forms are totally outstanding. All the art forms whether it is plastic arts, visual arts, performing arts, or textile arts are remarkable and distinguished. One of the remarkable arts is the Indian Folk art that has its vivid forms of manifestation like paintings, weaving, sculptures, masks, arms and weapons, tattoos, textiles, baskets, kitchen utility objects, metalwork, pottery and also designing of toys and jewellery. Folk art can also be termed as the Tribal arts because the kind of forms, designs and shapes are being used in this art usually depict the ancient and tribal civilization.

The designs and forms of folk art are quite symbolic to the people’s beliefs, rituals, puranic Gods, legends, fairs, festivals, deities and faces of warriors. The presentation of folk is quite unique because the forms and shapes of the old times are presented in an unconventional way. A very different feature of this art is the visual expressions of the wandering nomads, these wandering people carry an enriched experience of arts, culture, traditions, rituals and beliefs of the their tribes which they keep on sharing with others while travelling to different places. Examples of such folk artists are Gond and Warli.

While looking at the folk performing arts different states of India has their own unique folk dances which are performed during festivals and special occasions to express the joy and happiness. Folk dances like Bhangra of Punjab, Dandiya of Gujrat, Bihu of Aassam, Katthakali of Kerala are authentic, and traditionally symbolic.
