Values can be understood as a set of certain beliefs and attitudes that give a conduct to the life of a person. Values are the high standards of analyzing the activities and behaviors of a person. Since a long time ago, values have been conducted and directing the lives of people in India. Indians are united on the basis of values of compassion, brotherhood, cooperation, harmony, patience, tolerance, wisdom, over here, values have always played an important role in enhancing the quality of life and relationships for the Indians. And family is an entity that has been much more influenced by the this value system. Since the childhood the children are taught the family values that cultivate love, concern and respect in them for the family and its members. They are brought up in a completely value based atmosphere where values like ‘touching the feet’ talking with manners and referring the elders as ‘aap’, honesty, speaking the truth, care for elders, sharing with other offspring, non-violence, helping and other values are instructed. The Indian value system is truly enriched and magnificent. There are a few other values that are being guided to the family members such as compromising in relationships and making adjustments in life, never to give up, treating the guests as God; ‘atithi devo bhava’, regarding the food and offering it to God before eating it, equal perception towards others and no discrimination, integrity and motivation, spiritual awakening, respecting one’s religion and other’s as well. These values immensely help an individual grow into a wise and decent personality, they make the person realize of the significance of having a family and relationships in life.
