    Hi friends,

I wish to share some of my views.

    1. Concept of exam. - In real life, do we ever write an exam? We do things according to circumstances. So instead of having the kind of exams like we have now, why not give a problem, a very physical real life problem and ask students to figure out how best they can solve it. They can use maths, logic, mechanics, electronics.. anything.

    2. Grading should be totally unbiased. No assumptions. A student might have scored C/D for past 6 semesters. That should not mean, he is assumed to score C/D in the 7 & 8 semesters as well. How to ensure? The evaluators should not be able to understand whose answer sheet they are dealing with. There should not be any direct identification.

Direct identifications include roll no, hand writing, any identifying code.

    1. Student answers the paper as usual, writes his roll number etc.A set of honest data entry people converts the answer into digital format. Without leaving / adding anything. All letters and paragraphs is feeded as it is. Diagrams are scanned.

    2. Better still, all students write the answers online. (I know some might find it harder to type it, but down the lane someday, if everyone is almost equal in speed we could implement)

    3. Students need not by heart any formulae. Not even (a+b)^2. They can use the net/any source to find these formulae. But in his interest, he can learn how the derivation works, so that he can solve the real life problems easier.

    4. Priority: 100% of time a student dedicates to study/education should be used in improving the logic, discrimination, intuition ... (i think spirituality in one word).... and not remembering facts, figures or formulae.

    5. Reasonable time limits. one can become an engineer in 2 - 10 years. It does not mean the guy who passed out in 2 years is better. May be the guy who passed out after 4 years is better.

    6. Universal Exam At some point, everybody gives every exam in a common format, like we have CBSE class 10. No university is better or worse. There is just one university. All levels of exam by this university. Students can choose their level. The best resources in all present universities come together to form this Best University.

    7. Freedom If a person wishes to move from Engineering to Music, he should be allowed without any questions. I don’t think at 17/18 we know dead right that this is something i will live rest of my life with.

    8. Ethics. No personal bias based on grades. If a guy scores less, he is still as good as anyone else. Just that he is not able to focus at that point of time. No high scorer, medium scorer, low scorer, no scorer study groups. Everybody is part of the main group.

    Thank you for your time.

well i would like to add another view that is, students should not be evaluated just basing on one exam. a student may not do well in certain exam due to many reasons. students should be evaluated during whole course by watching their overall performance everyday in every aspects.
