Indian culture is vast and enormous. It is an amalgamation of varied traditions, patterns, ethos and values that have always directed and guided the people of India at every phase of their life. It is only the Indian culture that has bestowed great values and wise thoughts to the Indians and because of which they were able to face the biggest storms and issues in the history of mankind. But at the same time there are also some dogmas and ethos in the Indian culture that has stratified the people and have created certain discriminations among the people of India. We cannot hold the Indian culture completely favorable because it does contain a few practices and ideologies that truly need to be condemned and rather abolished. Casteism, the tradition of Untouchability, orthodox ideologies, gender discrimination, traditions of women's suppression, male dominance these all have been the old patterns and traditions of the Indian culture that certainly need not to be saved! What needs to be saved is the vast cultural heritage, the wonderful consolidation of arts and culture, the unique approaches and behaviors that make the Indians different among others. If we tend to only stick to the superficial reality of Indian culture then those conservative traditions will soon abate the relevance and beauty of our culture. What do you feel about this?
