India is the world’s largest democracy and has now become the world's second fastest growing country. India plays progressively more significant role in Asia, and on a wide range of global challenges. Like President Clinton and President Bush, President Obama has put down a strong and constant importance on the massive interest that the United States has in India's appearance as a global power. He called the U.S.-Indian relationship as one of the major partnerships of the 21st century and also said that expanding this partnership would remain one of his highest priorities.

The two countries are increasing their worldwide partnership across many areas. During his visit to India President Barack Obama focused on many things like 20 business deals were signed amongst the two countries for which he declared that it will create around 54,000 jobs in United States. Obama also declared to lift the ban of high-tech and dual-use exports to Indian agencies like ISRO, Bharat Dynamics Limited and Defense Research and Development Organisatio. His government also supported India's full membership in Nuclear Suppliers Group, Missile Technology Control Regime, the Australian Group and the Wassenaar Arrangement. These allowances in turn will help India to expand its space technology and security industry. He declared to include India in the reformed UN Security Council. The two leaders also joined hands for Advancing Global Security and Countering Terrorism, education and development, agriculture, science and technology, health, commerce and trade.
But with these positive things also came the other side of the whole scenario as the news of Nuclear Supply Group with its new guidelines barring transfer of enrichment and reprocessing technology and equipment [EPR] to India made us to believe the US disloyalty. According to civil nuclear cooperation agreement signed with India in 2008, there is a ‘clean waiver’ for EPR transfer to India but US instantly began prompting NSG to establish new guidelines. This shows that the US wants to tap into the vast Indian market just for profitable business and to persuade India to join hands in its suppression strategy towards China for which India refused and rather started to normalize its relations with China. Our defense ministry has turned down the US suggestion to have a joint dialogue between their foreign and defense ministers (a new format of strategic dialogue known as ‘two-plus-two’ ). Our defense dialogues are always bilateral and they are more effective and more useful. India overlooked the bids by Boeing and Lockheed in the MMRCA tender. As firstly, Boeing (F/A-18) and Lockheed (F-16) were not putting their most advanced technologies on offer and secondly this jet-fighter deal suggested that we were also supposed to buy a lot of American defense equipments.

But with this we cannot conclude on US- India Relationship. Recenlty India has placed an order of 4.1 billion dollars to Boeing to obtain weapons generating 25000 jobs in the US. Robert Blake, US assistant secretary of state, came all the way to Kolkatta to spot America’s hopes from CM Mamata Bannerjee and Finance Minister Amit Mitra said at a speech, “A quick look at the data reveals a trade relationship that is increasing, mutually beneficial and relatively balanced.” Washington cannot complain. Trade is flourishing In sum, the US-India relationship is an inflexible and selective partnership based on mutual advantage.

India-US relation is something of prime importance to India. US lends its world's most advanced technology to India which otherwise would have been difficult for us to have. India must learn from US and move forward in a innovative age because US is with India only for mutual benefits. If ever US-India ties should turn sour, India would take a hard blow.
