India is no where in top 10 in patents filed as per report of World Intellectual Property Organization ( WIPO ) where USA , Japan and Germany are in first 3 positions respectively and China ends up at 5th Position.Situation is really grim. This after 18 years of fraudulent liberalization in India and 60 years of independence. While on the other hand third rate Institutes are shouted as world class by our government and media and cunningly supported by Americans to keep us in cloud 7.

In India there are very few independent labs which are anyway owned by government in Center.Rest ia all in third rate and fraudulent politics ridden universities in India, public or private owned. But Indian University professors shout most about research and substandard degrees like PhD's.Not many are serious about research with lack of in depth subject knowledge and research techniques.Cut and paste and copy of western research is game played everywhere including in IITs and IIMs.

Most researchers in India are doing verification or re-validation of research already done.Or the research work is reproduced in Indian setting. It is superficial. Private sector entrepreneurs are profiteers and tax evaders largely. It is matter of shame. The ordinary and substandard academics have tight control on work in universities and situation is before every one. It is not likely to improve till serious industry executives are involved in research and proper funding is provided for long term by industrialists and governments.

it is really sad that india is not in the top 10 list of most patent filings. this is true that the education system in india is highly substandard and it is no ways useful for practical use. the institutes are all lazy enough to conduct research. where as the companies are engrossed in money making process and so no one things of R&D

india should improve in the field of research as there are no innovations taking place in india and thus india is behind the other countries in the top list of patent filing. government must allocate funds to the research institutes without eating money and stuffing it in their personal swiss bank accounts. students also should come forward and join research and contribute to the country

Research and Development is the key to a nation's success because if there are innovations, economy as well as the status of the country would get a good boost. We are lagging in Patent filings because there is very little research being done as government is not willing to spend money on research projects. I think government must consider it as an option of investment to change the future of our nation.
