New York Times stated owing to India's strong engineering base in manufacturing of low cost, fuel efficient cars, various automobile companies such as Nissan, Volkswagen, Hyundai, Toyota, Suzuki expanded their manufacturing facilities in India.
Ford Motors Has Bigger Plan For India. In september 2009, Ford Motors announced to establish one plant in India with 250,000 cars per year capacity for US $500 million. This plant would manufacture cars for both international and domestic market, Ford Motors intend to make India a center for global-production-business. Flat Motors announced, it would obtain auto components of US $1 billion from India.
Indeed yes, India is becoming a hub for automobile companies. There are many buyers in India seeking fuel efficient cars effective on Indian roads. Companies like Hyundai, Maruti suzuki, Honda, Volkswagan, Chevrolet, and Skoda have already done good.
