When we talk about women empowerment, we aren't only talking about the upliftment of the women's section belonging to the urban and developed areas but we rather refer to the empowerment of women from all the sections of the society including the rural and tribal areas as well. Tribal women have been subjected to suppression and coercion for a long time but we cannot be ignorant towards their enhancement and growth in their lives, nevertheless they also comprise an important part of the women population. In order to empower the tribal women, it is must to, increase their participation in the village organizations at first. This will immensely help them to realize the power of their voice and would also make them aware of their rights and status in the society. Hence it is essential to bring their participation in the limelight and foremost to encourage them for the following steps : 1. Tribal women should be encouraged to participate in the Gram Sabha (Village Council) of the village that is basically a community organization working for its development and decision making process. 2. Tribal women should be motivated to participate in the Village Panchayat that works as the official agency of the government in the village. This village Panchayat works for the infrastructure development of the village and 33% of the panchanyat strength is reserved for the women. However women feel this Panchayat system to be male dominated but still they should also not neglect their reserved seats and should make a full use of that. 3. Tribal women should make active participation in Mahila Sangathan and Local Women's Action Groups. These groups and sangathan work for local issues and problems of the women being faced in the village. There are many general awareness, income generating programs, volunteering and other social and economic growth programs initiated by these groups. 4. There are many Women Development Groups/NGOS run by the government in many tribal villages and communities thus the tribal women should actively participate in the volunteering and other campaigns and program commenced by those NGOs. These NGOs work for rectifying many social issues for the tribal women and also run income generating programs. Participation in the village organizations would certainly enable the tribal women to become empowered in the society as well.
