Siachen Glacier is important to India to maintain its territorial integrity. Pakistan and China are the parties that are interested in demilitarizing the Glacier. China from the east and Pakistan from the West had at all times trying to intrude in India. The main drawback of India’s Geopolitical foresightedness is defect in India’s defense policies and this has lead to the problems of Siachen Glacier. If the Indian Army posted in Siachen Glacier renounces, there will be severe problems and intruders will occupy the Northern most part of India. It will also lead to changing the whole map of India and more over Jammu and Kashmir which is and will always remain a part of India will be occupied by Pakistan. It will not solve the problem but increase it. Many politicians crib about the total expenditure in maintain the Army at Siachen Glacier is extremely high but in my view, no expenditure is more in comparison to the National Security of the nation and to keep Kashmir attached to India.

Indeed yes! We already have PoK1 and PoK2 which are problematic to India. We cannot let the Chinese and Pakistanis have the Siachen Glacier too. India should overhaul the Army bases and strengthen its foothold in the north. Not only this, Indian National Security itself needs overhaul. The gears, the weaponry, the training of personnel and the strategies of offence and defence need to be improved to combat any insurgency.

I agree with you. We cannot let go off the Siachen Glacier as Pakistan has already illegally occupied the northern part of Kashmir. The Kashmir issue is still persistent because of the wrong decision taken by Nehru. However, this time we cannot make any such mistake by giving away the Siachen Glacier. Most importantly, the Armed force should be made more powerful and supplied with proper arms and ammunition.

I agree with you all on the ground that Siachen Glacier is extremely important for India because if it is occupied by Pakistan or China, India cannot stop them from occupying Kashmir, which is an integral part of Indian Territory. Due to the adverse climatic condition, Indian Army is facing a huge loss of lives and letting Siachen Glacier go off will be disregarding to the sacrifices made by Indian Army to protect the nation from another foreign invasion. The Indian Army should be equipped with proper arms and ammunition to fight as well as they should be given proper facilities to cope with the adverse climatic condition of the Glacier.
