We can find many youngsters who get inspired by actors/actresses who smoke and start smoking. Apart from these, many get inspired or influenced by the peer group they move along with. How should we prevent our young India to fall into such unhealthy practices? share your views!

Smoking is quite common among the adolescents. According to a study, more than 8% of girls between the age of 13-15years consumes tobacco and generally a girl starts smoking at the age of 17 years and boys at the age of 18 years. It starts with curiosity but turns into addiction. It can be done by spreading awareness against smoking, its effects etc. By discouraging the habit and moreover, public smoking should not be shown on television etc.

Smoking has become a style statement for youngsters be it girl or boy. Smoking should be discouraged and youngsters should be explained about the adverse effect of smoking. Selling of cigarets should be banned near the premises of educational institutes and anyone caught smoking or selling cigarets should be punished and fined and perhaps by doing this, we can prevent youngsters from smoking.

Today, youngsters are more prone to smoking, especially among those whose parents are into smoking. So if we want to prevent the youngsters from smoking we should set good examples at homes and tell them the consequences of smoking but in a very caring way and not by being strict as this will make them rebellious and they will get start smoking even more.
