Internet speed can be increased only if the Internet Service Provider (ISP) allots you another band of connectivity with higher speeds. In addition to this you can manually configure you PC by going into Network Connections option to optimize the speeds. And you can also update your browsers so as to get good browser speeds.
I think internet speed all depends on the processors and ISP's performance. Nevertheless, we can do few tricks to enhance the performance. One of them being assigning the right IP address instead of automated IP selection in the LAN connection properties. Secondly you could choose a faster web browser.
