How to cure cold

    Cold is one of the most common illnesses affecting people around the world. This is caused by virus called rhino virus which affects the upper respiratory tract. Children are most commonly affected by the cold every now and then as their immunity system is weaker compared to adults. The common cold lasts about a week and then the person recovers but sometimes the cold may recur if the person is weak.

    Symptoms of common cold :

    • Running nose, which is the most common symptom.
    • Cough
    • Sneezes
    • Sometimes the person may get sore throat also
    • Watery eyes
    • Headache
    • Sometimes there may be body aches.
    • Diarrhea

    With the above symptoms one can be sure that the ailment he/she is suffering from is common cold.

    There are various methods to cure the cold. You may opt for reducing the above symptoms by using medication for common cold. But these relieve you from the symptoms. Generally these medications cause side effects when taken for a prolonged period of time. So many people opt for home remedies.

    Home remedies for curing cold :

    • Taking hot baths : Taking hot water baths for little time and inhaling steam can help cure cold. The steam helps in relieving congestion and the heat helps in killing the viruses.

    Drinking hot soups : Many people prefer drinking hot soups during cold as this helps in relieving cold easily. Any kind of hot soup generally relieves you of cold. However it has been found that chicken soup is more effective in fighting cold.

    Gargling mouth with salt water : This remedy helps in getting rid of sore throat as this kills the germs in the throat region.

    Drinking plenty of fluids : During the cold there is loss of plenty of fluids. To compensate this loss you should drink plenty of fluids such as herbal extracts and fruit juices. This keeps the body hydrated and more immune to germs.

    Common cold is one of the most common diseases and is easily communicable from person to person.Cure for common Cold is Easy.Common cold is caused by viruses and is characterized by sneezing, headache, runny nose, fever, sore throat and weakness. Common cold is one disease which affects people of all ages and people from every walk of life. However, most commonly cold affects people who have a weak immune system. This does not necessarily rule out the fact that it can affect the others too.

    One main reason for the occurrence of cold is consumption of fried foods, cold items and cold drinks especially in the cold season or during the nights. However, these are not the only causes of cold, water and air pollution can also give rise to cold and cough.

    The best way to prevent the incidence of cold is by eating healthy. A healthy balanced diet not just provides one with good health but also helps in building a sound and effective immune system. A strong immune system ensures that body can sustain and fight the infections.

    There are a lot of home remedies which are quite effective in helping cure cough and cold. It is a well known fact that ginger is extremely effective medication for cough and cold. A teaspoonful of ginger juice mixed with honey, taken three times a day makes very good medication to get rid of the cold.

    Honey and lemon juice when taken with warm water also help in relieving cough and cold to a great extent. Powdered cinnamon, ginger powder, cardamom and black pepper all taken in equal quantities along with sugar or honey are also beneficial in curing cough and cold.

    There are a number of medication and antibiotics which people tend to take to relieve themselves from the cold; however these home remedies are not just effective but also help avoid the consequences of side effects.
