The Indian society is one of the oldest in the world. It is well known for its various diversities. Its heritage has no ending. Going back to the past the Indian society started long back during the Indus Valley Civilization. It has come a long way from then to what it is now in India. Though the country has been under the English rule for about two centuries the Indian society has not lost its heritage and flavor. After independence the country has made progress and similarly the society has changed with time. Nothing is permanent, everything is bound to change and so has the Indian society got to change. Though India is not as modernized as the western countries it is not backward either. India accounts for a huge number of doctors and scientists in the world today. It has the third largest army in the world and the largest film industry.

Even after so much progress some things are still the same in India. People still believe in child marriage, they still believe in black magic and all sorts of irrelevant stories. These things should certainly change otherwise the Indian society will never be able to progress further. Without proper changes in the Indian society India can never be a developed country. On one side we have the well established cites and metros where as on the other hand we have the villages. In some villages there is no electricity even in the 21st century. Conditions are even worse in the villages for the farmers if the monsoons don’t arrive in time. Due to various differences the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. The Indian society must adapt to the changes with time and move ahead in life. Change is good and change is important for the Indian society for its betterment. I believe Indian society needs change.

You don't need any thing else except an oath to yourself that whatever you do would be completely honest towards the nation and to yourself. We can all bring a great change in the indian society by changing out rigid and conservative thinking. People are still not accepting the change that are taking place in the indian society and these change can be bought by the education. So it is very important for the people to get and give education to their children.

Indian society needs a drastic change in terms of value and understanding the social responsibility. The mentality of people has become deteriorated and torn out. They are hardly bothered about the social responsibility towards the nation. People should feel the sense of being responsible like they should not throw waste on the roads, should keep their environment neat and clean, must not encourage deforestation and there should be proper harmony between the people of any society. All these changes are enough to make the place better.

@sweetangel: What drastic change you are talking about? We need to change only and only ourselves and until this happens there will be no change that can be bring in the society. If we change ourselves and our habits then everything will be changed in the society that we are looking for. The biggest change is required in our thinking and living standards.

Societies in India are very strong and one can find different societies in our nation. Bringing the right changes can only be done by imparting a strong and robust moral education to the youth and children in schools. Unless and until this is done, we cannot expect a sudden change or a miracle to take place. Even media plays a crucial role in molding the people's mindsets.

India is in great need of social reformation. There are many social evils that still exist in our society which is creating several hurdles in development and progress of the nation. Education in the proper way is the only means to change the Indian society. Media, which influence our Indian society to a great extent, can be another alternative in reforming the Indian society.

I agree with you that India needs social reformation to change our society. However, it is important to change the mindset of the people as it can lead to making a better society. People needs to realize that we no longer live in a society where woman could be dominated and they are no longer vulnerable. Social revolution is the only way to change our society.
