It is important to know the features and functions that are of the phone you want to buy. Read the reviews about it and compare it with other Smartphone available in the market within the same price bracket. This will help you in choosing the right one that has good features and comes in your decided price range.

Operating System

Don’t commit a mistake, it is the Operating System that your phone a Smartphone, so it is essential to know about the various systems that are available before buying. However, it is mainly important if you want to buy a Smartphone based on Android or Windows OS but if you want to buy a iPhone or a Blackberry than knowing the OS is no very important because these phones have their own OS i.e. iOS for all Apple phones and OS 10 for all Blackberry. Now, let us know about the different OS available.

  1. Android OS: Android is the most common OS found in Smartphone. It assures indigenous assimilation with Google services that comprise Gmail, Hangouts, Maps, Search, YouTube and many more. Apart from these, you access more than a million of apps that is available in the Google Play store. The best thing about Android is that the apps that are available on other OS like iOS and Windows, which are paid downloads are most often available free of cost in Android phone. Furthermore, an Android handset is plug-and-play, wherein you can just connect it to your PC using a USB cable to transfer data files with other compatible devices without any problem.
  2. Windows OS: Developed by Microsoft, Windows OS on phones is quite new in the market. It is without any doubt trying its best to catch up with Android in the market but there is still a long way to go. It has finally come up with about 2 lakh apps among which some available on Android and iOS are available here. Moreover, it does not offer a wide selection of phones as it is available primarily on Nokia and a few models of HTC phones. In addition, these devices come with free subscriptions for content like music and movies (depending on the model you buy), and also Here Maps and Drive+, which are perhaps the best map and navigation services in India.

Processor

Next comes the choosing of processor or rather the CPU of your pocket computer. While buying a Smartphone, you will definitely hear several names of processors like dual-core, quad-core , and even octacore processors. However, it is for you to know and decide on which Smartphone you should put your money on. The greater the number of core is apparently, the processor is better. But, it does not show you the actual picture of which one is better. These chips are licensed and designed by UK-based ARM, which offers different architecture and according to this, the higher is the number, the better is the processor. The phone that possesses quad-core technology is without any doubt better and more advanced than others with lesser number but an iPhone with dual-core processor could be a better performer than any other quad-core Android phones. So, it is actually difficult to decide on which is a better processor but you can choose a quad-core processor for your Android or windows Phone.

RAM

RAM is Random Access Memory of your Smartphone. It is that part of your phone, which helps smooth functioning of your phone and higher the RAM, better is the performance of the phone. So, it is very important to check the RAM of the phone before buying.

Storage Capacity

The Storage capacity of your phone is important because it lets you store your data on the phone. So, when you buy a Smartphone, always go for the one that has sufficient storage capacity. Normally, if a phone’s storage capacity is given as 8GB, only about 6.5GB will be available for you to store your data. So if you need 4GB, buy a phone that has 8 to 16GB internal storage. Moreover, it is better to choose a model that supports microSD card and is expandable up to 32 GB.

Display

Display of a Smartphone is important and the ideal way to evaluate the display of a Smartphone is by looking at it from various angles for changes in color, and also in different lighting conditions for visibility. Put money on a Full HD (1080p) display if you wish to buy a phablet. HD (720p) display as well works well for devices that have a display size of up to 5 inches. For smaller devices, you can load a web page to see if the text is crisp and clear and your eyes are not strained.

Screen Size

After checking the display, its size as well matter a lot. A screen of four to five inches works well for most purposes. If the screen size is bigger, it becomes difficult to handle and carry along; however, the bigger the screen size is, better is the viewing experience.

Camera

Today, most Smartphone comes with high megapixel camera but if you want a phone with an excellent camera, then throw away that notion from your mind that higher the megapixel of the camera, better is the picture quality. A 5 MP camera can be able to offer 8x6-inch prints even at 300dpi (dots per inch), which is the normal resolution used in professional printing. The Megapixel is not important but what is important is its optics. Invest on devices that has Carl Zeiss lens as low-quality lens with higher resolution will deliver poor image quality. Moreover, look for options like BSI sensor and LED flash rather than the resolution of the camera.

Battery

One of the most essential of all things is the battery backup offered by the phone’s battery. The Smartphone that you bought must have the best-in-class features and functionalities but if it does not have a good power backup, it is of no use. Keep in mind that higher the mAh is, better is the battery life. Moreover, go for a Smartphone that is equipped with lithium-polymer batteries rather than lithium-ion as lithium-polymer batteries have the capability of retaining the power for a longer duration than lithium-ion batteries.

Mobile Brand

Last but not the least, always choose a Smartphone from an established brand. Although, there are several mobile phone manufacturing brands are available in the market at a lower price but it is always better to buy your phone that has a brand name because these brands provide good after sales service. However, if your pocket does not allow you to do so, then do check the availability of service centers in your city and also check the reputation of the Company, which will perhaps give you a better idea about its after sales services.
