We all have our own ways of reading the newspapers, some only look into the headlines, some read business news, some are interested in sports and current affairs and others while some of us simply turn the pages and look all the news just at a glance. One page that we all, most of the times ignore is the editorial page that has got many important issues discussed elaborative. This page is actually very insightful as it includes the hottest national topics. Particularly the people who are the aspirants of civil services examination and any other government service examination should never fail to read the editorial page as it contains valuable news and points that they should keep in mind. The articles published in this page help the person to cultivate his/her own point of view which is a helpful thing. During the interviews the candidate is asked their point of views over national and international issues so if they have already read a suffice content they can easily build up their own points. It is my suggestion to all the aspirants who are preparing for any state or national level examination to thoroughly read the editorial page of the newspaper.

I am of this perception that not many have the habit of reading newspaper in the first place. Individuals today are grossly losing the patience to stick to the end of a paragraph, let alone reading the editorial pages. Most people don’t understand the importance of the editorial page unless they have some competitive exams to crack. It is saddening to know that the youth needs a reason to grow curiosity over the issues surrounding the World. The benefits of reading the opinion/editorial section not only include knowledge enlightenment but also other benefits like language efficiency, grammar corrections, strong vocabulary and debating skills. It is better if schools and parents inculcate newspaper reading habits in children from an early age. Editorial sections are the best way to refine one’s opinions.
