Marriage is a matter of religious duty for The Hindus. Every Hindu is committed to marriage since he regards it as a great sacrament. For the Hindus, marriage is not a matter of “social contract” nor its interpreted as a “license for sex life”. In the Hindu scheme of the Ashrams, one can enter the much praised, “Grihasthaashrama” only after the marriage. With the marriage sacrament, man and woman as husband and wife establish the family, the home or “griha”. Grihasthaashrama is not merely a biological necessity but is also a well though-out social institution. 'Grihyasutra' usually begins with the 'Vivaha Sanskara' because it is the origin and center of all domestic sacrifices. They presuppose that every man, in his normal conditions is expected to marry and run a family. The marriage is a union of two persons of different sexes to lifelong reciprocal passion of their sexual qualities, which aims at the individuals’ biological, emotional, social, and spiritual fulfillment and development and which cannot be attained in isolation.
