However , most of us know him only for his book , not for his other great deed. I got a few chances to interact with him , as he visited my school for some guest lectures. Some of my school teachers are his great "fans". Literally fans , not admirer. Here are some deeds of him , which ensure that he is a great human : 1. He is a professor in IITK , guest faculty in many other colleges , hon'able member of many government societies . Now we can safely assume he earns atleast 1lac per month. A decent amount to live in city like Kanpur lavishly. Still he does not own a car or a fancy bike or a private bus or a lavish big home with a home theater in it. He goes everywhere in city either by public transport or on his own , bajaj priya scooter (perhaps 1970-80 model) , which even my father abondened 10 years ago. 2.He does not wear a hi-fi costly suit or a costly watch or leather shoe . You can find him roaming in a simple shirt pant, floaters sandels and a simple watch. Exggagrating ? How do I know above two points ? Well me and my one friend was assigned to greet him on school gate when he first came . We did not know him then , and assumed that he will come in a four wheeler driven by a driver with curtains inside. But nothing like that happened. Instead a man came from his scooter , asked us where he can park it, parked it like any other person ,came back to us and said "Hello , I am Harish Verma , can you please tell me way to hall?" 3. He is a well known physics professor in India and probably one of the best Indian scientist in Nuclear physics. Still he finds time to teach poor students living near IIT Kanpur campus . He teaches them science with simple little experiments , and gives their school fee if they are ready to go to school and educate themselves. 4. He is always happy to answer any lamest query any student ask to his best level. I asked him some silly questions too. 5. He is polite enough to accept that he does not know this specific answer. 6. He get rs 1 cr. INR as royalty for his book concept of physics. He donates all of it. All amount. 7.
