God of Cricket Sachin Tendulkar is set to have another feather on his cap with the IAF deciding to confer him an honorary group captain's post. Sources said the Indian Air Force had considered giving Sachin Tendulkar an honorary wing commander's post but top officials decided that the rank wasn't befitting Tendulkar's stature. A group captain's rank in the Indian air force is equivalent to that of a colonel in the Indian Army. Sources said Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar may also be invited by the IAF to fly a Sukhoi Fighter jet this year to earn 'wings'. source : India Today

The God of Cricket and pride of India Sachin Tendulkar was on 3rd of September conferred with the IAF's honorary rank of Group Captain to honor his cricketing achievements and contribution to the nation.He's a warrior in true sense and a soldier of India with bat in his hands. Sachin is the first Cricketer to be conferred a rank by Indian Airforce and the first personality with no aviation background to receive the honour.
