ishwarchandra vidyasagar was the one who pledged to send girls to school for education. he was the one who opened many schools in calcutta for girls. he convinced poor families to send their girl children to schools.
good to hear about this and i think not many indians know about this. well, he indeed contributed a lot the indian society as females were always looked down upon the early indian society and their education was merely a dream. but he took the courage of initiating the efforts to educate women in this country which was needed utmost.
