Fatehpur Skiri a city that depicts its architectural wonders that could be attributed to the Mughal period of Akbar. Fatehpur Sikri is well renowned as a historical monumental city and also for its remarkable history of origination. The city came into existence when Akbar wished to build up an architectural wonder of a historic town called as Fatehabad that later on known as Fatehpur Skiri. Akbar had twins. The twins soon died after the birth and now Akbar was in the search for a male successor eventually he met saint Salim Chisti who used to live in a cavern near the Sikri region. This saint presaged Akbar that soon he was going to have a son and it happened as it was predicted. Akbar named his son Salim on the name of the saint to show his gratitude. When Salim was very small Akbar went to Skiri to build up an architectural wonder in order to show his immense regards and gratitude for the saint Salim Chisti. This is how Fatehpur Sikri came into existence. Today this city is a significant part of the Agra territory but it is still renowned as the city of the finest architectural wonders of the Mughal times. Today it is one of the major tourist attractions in Agra. Buland Darwaza, Tomb of Saint Salim Chisti, are the main attraction of Fatehpur Sikri. There are other noteworthy monuments that depict the splendid ruling period of Akbar, the inner courts where queen Jodha Bai used to stay and the inner harem of the Hindu wives are also noteworthy areas.
