Just with the completion of higher secondary education, the very next step for the youngsters is to make a wise and rational choice for their career. In fact this preparation begins a long time back when one enters in the higher class of school. For a youngster it is must that the choices he/she makes regarding the career must be the righteous and best suitable. But this choice of choosing the career is not fully independent. At least in the Indian social system there is a huge interference of the family and its members in the decision making of youngsters and when it is the matter of choosing a career it becomes a havoc for the whole family. There are many a times when the youngsters have to deal with unnecessary pressure from their families. They feel restricted and burdened for not having the full liberty of choosing the career of their own choices. Every other member of the family and in fact the relatives get involved in this process. Everyone tries to impose their own experience and decision on the youngster rather lending them, their ears.

It is good on the part of the elders to share their experience and to guide the youngster in their decision making process but using coercion, argumentative attitudes and authority in order to push the youngsters to change their choice is not welcoming for the youngsters. Rather it is the time for them to experience their lives on their own terms, they should be guided but not over protected. Parents and family should give enough freedom for the youngsters to make choices. Parents should be enough cooperative and empathetic to understand the aspirations and dreams of their children. They should trust their children and moreover should have faith in the upbringing they have given to them. It is the time for the children to make some important decisions related to their future. The youngsters are enough smart and intelligent and thus let them prove it!

Career choice is a matter of great concern for students.Yes, there arises a lot of friction between parents and youth when it comes to making a deliberate career choice. What needs to be noticed here is that it is not solely parental pressure(expectations) and the students own will that causes the friction in the choice of career. It is rather, often opinionated, a contradiction between passion and profession. In today's competitive world, people are running after success, Money is an important factor and a settled life is a want for everyone. However parents often carry on the age old perceptions when it comes to choice of career, they rather restrict their thoughts to a specific comfort zone of career, that turns out to be a suitable profession, respected and adored by people since ages.Yes, experiences are important to guide youngsters yet there has been a change in trend, a change in what youngsters want. With the change of generations, the scope of career options has widened and parents, family should understand this.Forceful implementation of decisions should be stopped and students should be encouraged to remain independent in their choice of career.Using authoritative weapons over children will somewhat bully them and they are more inclined to rebel and those who silently accept it, are often seen being unhappy with their profession for the rest of their life.
