    Inpatient eating disorder treatment

This process involves treating patient by monitoring the patient inside the hospital for about 24 hours and taking his or her care under guidance of a medical professional. The duration of treatment under supervision may vary upon the complexity of the case. It may be upto weeks or even upto several months if the patient is suffering from severe eating disorder.

The cost of inpatient Eating disorder treatment could be rather higher than the outpatient treatment because the patient is given a room and a bed along with supervision and assistance by the medical professionals.

People can opt for outpatient treatment for eating disorders if the condition is not that severe. However under severe cases the patient has to go for inpatient eating disorder treatment because he or she cannot take care of themselves without round the clock supervision of medical professional.

    Inpatient Eating Disorder Treatment programs

The Inpatient Eating Disorder Treatment programs usually are effective in cases like anorexia nervosa where the patient is mentally compulsive and reluctant to undergo normal treatment. The patient is given meals to suit their requirements according to their condition they are suffering from. The program also takes care of reaching a specific target onto to changing the food habits of the patient and also to maintain his or her body weight optimally.

    Inpatient eating disorder meal plan

The patient’s daily calorie intake is also monitored properly to ensure sufficient energy is being supplied. The person is given bouts of meals if there has to be any vomiting after intake of meal. Surplus fluid and glucose are given to the patient in case of motions and vomiting.

In case of patients suffering from severe anorexia, they can be given liquid food supplement or even IV infusion. The patient after the course of treatment, if shows improvement in the condition can be suggested to go for outpatient treatment.
