Hi Friends, India is a country with different culture and language. The main drawback I feel as an Indian is that we do not have a common language to communicate with each other. I strongly feel that we should have a common language to understand each other. What you say?
we do have a common language that we are using at the moment..ENGLISH... but unfortunately its not indian. i don't think its really possible to have a single language in a country like india. speaking of hindi, yes it is indeed considered the language of india in the rest of the world. but the truth is that only less than half of the population speak hindi!!!
Hindi being our national language as a fact hardly people care to speak it. Many of us dont even bother to learn it.
Yes we runaway from speaking Hindi saying "We have right to speak in any language" but we forget that this right is given by Mother India and we should earn the National language. First we need our loved politicians and great leader to make there address any where in Hindi only
I do not think so that language can keep india apart on basis of language.. We follow the same government and same national anthem and other similarities.. language cannot be teh barrier in diving india and its people..
Hindi does not have a function like English that is why people in south don't want to learn Hindi and I think its a valid reason.
Languages can't divide us No matter what language we use, as long as our heart is filled with love for mother India, no language can keep India apart. Be it Hindi, Tamil or Khasi, Kok Borok, Rabha, Karbi, Mishing, Ao, or Sema (I am sure most of us event have not heard the names of thes languages). All are the languages of India and we love India.
Different languages are not going to pose a threat to India. I think we have mastered the art of coexistance and we should be proud of that. Hindi is the national Language and we can promote that and also promote other languages as all of them are our heritage.
yes of course we are split apart... fellow Indians, i am from south and my mother language is TAMIL and my medium of instruction is English.so it is not possible for me learn three languages(incl Hindi). people of north India should not be so selfish in this regard, you guys have to think... my vote will be for English. also Tamil language is older than another language in INDIA and it has its own pride tats may be the reason why my state people don't want Hindi as a National language... even though English is not an Indian language we are much used to this than our own language..
India as a whole dont have any specific language. its not like you said. i would prefer english as national language(by which i can communicate with other state Indians) and ofcourse(to communicate with my state Indians) i will have my regional language.. after all we are learning everything through english... so wats harm in that????
Hi! A great point. A common language is necessary even if there are many similar dialects. But when there are 22 scheduled languages (and hundreds of other languages and their dialects) then it's difficult to integrate a nation. Many small communities, tribes suffer a lot due to this. The extent of Hindi is only 35% area of whole India. English is a good tool in this sense as all people whether from North East or from South understand English to some extent.
no. this is not true No, I do not agree with this thought that language difference keeps Indians apart. India is known since decades for the variety of different religions, cultures, casts and people that live here altogether. So, how can anyone just like that say that language is a barrier that restricts Indians from coming closer. Though since some time there are some disturbances occurring in our nation but that does not at all mean that Indians are apart. Indians were together, are together and will always be together.
No I do not agree that language difference keeps us apart. Though our country is multilingual we are all united. We have one motherland though we speak different tongues. Though some radical minds create some issues with regards to language but for wiser men and women it remains as a medium of communication and otherwise we are all one.
to an extent yes it does keeps us apart.. we do have a common language that is hindi which should be made mandatory in every state so that there is atleast one common indian language. english would be another language and so the differences in languages can be culled out completely. some states are practicing this some are not bothered.
I don't think personally that languages keep people apart in any country. You just need to have a feel to expresss and you can easily convey your things to other person. People are same everywhere, the only difference that we confront is the problem of language and that can also be resolved by the language that all people speak and that is English. as this language is considered as a universal language.
