People say that it is the age of modernization. If we adapt to its trends, we do exist into it. But it is not so in the real sense. Not all the modern day habits can be considered as logical ones. Many illogical and non-sensical habits have evolved in the shadow of good ones. Drinking alcohol is not an unacceptable act but labeling it as a sign of modern etiquette is quite unacceptable. The youngsters don’t count you in the pack; its more like you need to follow the internalized norms of their herd, to be a part of it. Sometimes this makes the youngsters follow the unwilling footprints too. What do you think about it?
Drinking is totally a matter of personal choice but as my fellow member rightly pointed out, it is often used as a medium of peer pressure. As long as you're taking it with a full understanding its pros and cons, accepting the responsibilities that come with it, you're ready to enjoy it within your stitched comfort zone. But drinking might be a habit, and not a good one at that so coercing someone or getting swayed away into it determines your weak character. Coolness is only defined when one can retain their individuality - your own choice towards intaking of alcohol or not intaking at all but definitely not imitating others for the sake of catching up with trends.
