He believes that nature is God and God is nature and nature has given the bests’ blessings to the human race thus according to him it is the duty of the mankind to serve and protect the nature. This holy idea has inspired him to plant more than 10 million trees and that too alone without bothering anyone else for any help. Daripalli Ramaiah a 68 years old man has taken the mission of bringing back the green cover on this earth that has been lost over the years and for which we all are responsible. Planting more than 10 million trees is neither really a joke nor a one day task; in fact Ramaiah says that the real task begins after the seed becomes a sapling. He has all alone taken care of each of the sapling he had planted he made it his motto that not even a single sapling should be dying but must survive. He is a native of Khammam district in Telengana and he is popularly known as ‘Chetla Ramaiah’ in which chettu means a tree. He initially began covering the land green with a four kilometre stretch in his native place and it took him a very long time to successfully reach the number of 10 million trees. Chetla Ramaiah is very fond of reading books about plants in fact he is a walking encyclopaedia of plants and trees. He knows every bit about plants and has been collecting seeds of many native trees such as Peepal, Nidra, Bael, Neem, Kanuga and etc. his all-time famous slogan with which he inspires others to grow plants is; “Vrikshio Rakshati Rakshitah” means if you would save trees, they would save you in return. But what Ramaiah has got in return after giving his each bit of sweat to this planting of trees? The immense satisfaction and peace of mind is probably his reward that has kept him elevated for so long. He is saving many generations and the entire nature; he deserves the choicest blessings of God.
