Whatever may be the shortcomings it is a reality that the Indian state structure has been able to maintain a democratic environment and is steadfast to go on with the same even in the coming decades. But its sacred obligation does not end here; it has got to express the nation’s cultural ethos and fundamental beliefs or conviction (stimulating it to abide by democratic principles) in each and every respect. Unfortunately, the earlier Indian governments had little time for all these and hence this vital issue was put on the back burner. Luckily enough, the present government under an erudite premier seems to be different and thanks to it, the Indian emblem of money – rupee – has finally got an encouragement.

After decades of waiting, Indian rupee as got a novel representation — a blending of the Devanagari 'Ra' along with Roman 'R' – and with this it has been able to join privileged currencies akin to the British pound, Japanese yen, Euro and certainly US dollar in having a distinctive identity. There has been another major development. It, in each and every manner, does reflect Indian ethos and culture, would play a great role in differentiating the currency from the rupee or rupiah of several neighboring countries. These include Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan and of course Sri Lanka.

In accordance with governmental clarifications, the brand new symbol has been the brainchild of proud Indian Udaya Kumar, a post-graduate of IIT and was okayed by the Central Cabinet from among a huger number of other designs and after lots of deliberations. What did influence the Central Cabinet of the Indian Government is that the pristine emblem does reflect the Indian frame of mind in the best manner. We can certainly conclude that at last Indian currency, endorsed by a more than- zillion dollar financial system, is at last making its charisma sensed on the global landscape. Indian economy will be able to contend with others in a more audacious manner, hence.

It’s good if this intrepid mind-set of Indian Government is found in other spheres too.

Benefits of having a currency symbol

Indian rupee has become the fifth currency in the world to get an identity of its own. The central government has given it a new symbol on 15th July, 2010. The currency symbol for Indian rupee has been designed and created by a Proud Indian D. Udaya Kumar who is a teacher in Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay.

A recognized currency will boost the economy of India. In this era of Information technology, getting known is all that matters. Imagine users all over the world using a currency in their day to day life. When they have it on their keyboards they are actually getting to know the value. Getting known doesn’t come easy.

Economy too is boosted in a way that a whole new concept of jobs is initiated. Designers, developers, mechanics, publishers all need to change their usual machines and practices. In case of India it will do more wonders that could be ever imagined. Though direct boost of the economy is not guaranteed nor expected the currency will boost the confidence of the people. The day when the new currency was introduced in India, the Sensex rose by 200 points. Imagine the situation when it would be fully functional.

A proper currency figure provides a better image of the country. The revenues from trade are bound to get doubled when you set some definitive standards and what can work better and easier that well found currencies figure?

Another important function in this matter is the central government’s directives to national association of software companies (Nasscom) to inform the information technology sector to apprise all the firms to include the new rupee symbol in their software system and programming. Thus it can be concluded that with the introduction of the new identity the rupee will get a new status.

    Benefits of currency symbol

By giving new symbol to our currency, we are creating a place for our currency in International market. This will surely give a lift to the economic conditions of India. This sign will enhance and give Indian rupee a global and local appeal, which will create more familiarity among other nation. The government is also planning to propagate this symbol through various means and currently the easier and speedy mode of proliferation is by standardizing it on keyboards. This will surely bring this symbol to the platform of international standards and our country to the new level of economic growth.

    Indian Currency symbol

I really like the selected currency symbol for Indian Rupee, its quite unique. It is recognizable by both English speakers and Hindi speakers. Symbol is basically the alphabet "R" without the stick, and the Hindi alphabet "र" without the stick, combined together.
