Hi firends We recently had a good bollywood movie thats Rocket Singh,which showed the contemporary business practices ie customer satisfaction and delivery of value to the customers and we had an another great movie which gave the insight of business, Guru lets first talk about this, the movie tried to tell the life and achievents of a gerat India entrepreneur Late Dhiru Bhai Ambani, the movie was good it showed, how a young entrepreneur set up his business empire in the Indian markets which was globalised just then, how he fought with the bureaucratic system of India. Than we had a movie called Corporate which gave the insight of corporate world, ethical and non ethical issues. Today the economy of the world is trying to recover after the long and hard recession period, today business is more concerned about people and delivering them value and good services.This is what showed in the movie ROCKET SINGH So we can say that the business practices are shifting from the bureaucracy to more people driven policies and I also believe that the contemprory business practices are changing. Yeah, you have pointed out a good point. Really, the movies which you have discussed are quite inspirational ones. It certainly works to boost whatever our motives are. Being the current situation to be much more competitive, its necessary for one to be a step ahead from their peers.
Sadly but business ethics is of 0 importance to Indian MNCs. And this is my personal experience. Be it Airtel or Tata, they are just here to milk us till the last drop. About Guru - Did you not notice or read about the corruption that Late Dhirubhai Ambani started. Google more! Corporate - Shows ethics of Indian MNCs at its best.
cool! what you are saying is right but it may be just one phase of the coin. I know some what about the corruption but you tell me starting from a 4 loom small business to a big company of tunover 25 billion can you achieve it in one life in a country like India without corruption??????(and mind it its not an IT firm which do not have to deal much with the government) I am not saying that being non ethical is good but can you expact your life without reliance, Can you position India as the fastest growing economy of the world without Reliance??????? ok, I am not a working professional but I also read books and have attended lectures of some CEOs every one talks about ethics but behind the scene they know what is true. I have never found any clear demarcation between ethics and unethic but still I guess now the firms are getting more customer centered and more society concerned may be because they know that consumers are the real boss you can no more cheat them. About curruption I can't coment much coz I am a kido but yes I am a bit positive that the upcoming generation may do something better!!!!
Milady, even if it is one side of the coin, it is a part of the coin nah? NO. And who says IT Firms do not deal with Government projects? Yes I can! I seldom use any pf their products. The last one being a post-paid mobile connection that I got pick-pocketed. Yes, I do! See, Reliance is huge, but not the only Indian company doing business worldwide. Now, you cannot link India's economic progress to a single organization. For example, the billions of $$$ we get in remittances from our citizens abroad, also contribute to our economic progress. Got my point? Attending lectures of CEOs or reading books is very nice. I wish I was as lucky as you. However, business is a different game altogether. Wrong! No one is getting customer centered. Until the day we have laws that penalizes Companies heavily in case of fault, the ordinary Indian is headed nowhere and will be exploited every single god-damned day. Coming back to the topic, almost on a monthly basis we see the Supreme Court or a cabinet Minister pressing for development. As for contemporary business practices, that only the educated will shine is a myth. Bill Gates proved it, Michael Dell proved it........and so did many others. I for one would look for sincerity and the ability to zeal, rather than % in degree exams(The education system in India is flawed anyway). Just my 2 cents!!!
true so let us hope that the coming generation of corporates may also change the business practices!!! since change it the ultimate driving force of this world isn't it? every thing changes by time and gets better so as the business policies should be Again you may not be agreeing with me but that's fair coz I know what you are talking is true and practical and I want to end it up with some optimism coz no one of us want to live and work in this unethical corporate life!!!!!!

Correct me if I am wrong, but the Sub Prime crisis did not happen because they tried to fool people. Irregularities, while lending is one of the reasons that caused Sub Prime crisis. I can explain more, but this is not the thread for this. I agree with you completely And don't worry about the unethical corporate life, you will taste it in a couple of years and get used to it. And then every morning you will think "Friday kab aayega yaar?"
