Consumer forums seek transparent Mobile tariff plans

    Kapil Sabil , Telecom Minister of India heard consumer grievances related to mobile number portability, Mobile value-added services Activation and Mobile Value Added services charges, transparent Mobile tariffs in the first round-table with consumers of India. Many Indian consumer groups turned up to highlight consumer Issues and suggest solutions.

    Telecom Users Group of India, a consumer organization, suggested single tariff plan for prepaid Indian mobile consumers and make text message charges on par with voice call charges ( @ 1 paisa/second )

    On the Mobile tariff front, the Indian consumer forum asked the telecom ministry to bring in transparency and a 1 tariff plan for all prepaid consumers of India that made up to 96% of all mobile users in India. Consumer forums urged telecom Minister , Kapil Sibal to allow value added services activation on consumer's consent only.
