What else can we do riding the waves of Commonwealth Games? Remember the enthusiasm that China displayed while hosting the most prestigious Olympic Games. The entire country was touched by the spirit of unity and occupied the first position not only in the medal tally overtaking countries like USA, and Russia but also accumulated confidence to compete for the top positions in Economy, Defense and other sectors. Now, the opportunity has come to India as the Commonwealth Games is in the air. A number of development activities are undertaken by the government. The dirty public places are being cleaned up. New stadiums are being constructed, infrastructure is being developed. But why can our government not do it at a normal time. Can it be done only during the Games? And how long such initiatives will last? Will all be over after the Games? The success is not all about holding the Games successfully. A lot of other elements like strengthening national integrity, displaying the strength of India as an emerging power, and so on are involved. What else can we do riding the waves of Commonwealth Games for the sake of our country? Can anybody suggest?
Well, the integrity will only come to the citizens if it is displayed by the leaders, top politicians as theckrey, mayawati etc. are ruining the already existing oneness of the masses...a new wave of intellectual leaders is desperately needed by the country... For the games, focus on national activities should be high...The influential people should talk about the benefits of being together and should clear the doubts and concern of the citizens regarding the same...
agreed Govt is taking last moment measure to keep the venue for the Commonwealth games clean and hygienic. Isn't it time that we as Citizen of this Great country start taking initiative and keep our surrounding clean and hygienic. Why always play the blame game and point our others fault? when not take the initiative our self. Can we contribute to the authorities efforts and help them keep the city clean from now on? We should pledge to contribute rather than pointing mistakes

Every rapid change needs a revolution. May this Commonwealth Games come like a revolution to our country to activate the people and the politicians to do something for the country in a better way. Yes, in India, we need excuse to do or not to do something. May the Commonwealth games be the excuse to do many new things.
Commonwealth Games, Olympic or national level - are in the clutches of the Sports Mafia.They control everything from the selection of players to the contractors who build the stadium. Therefore there is no hope that Indian sportsmen would make their mark. India always sits at the bottom of the Medals tally like a giant sitting at the feet of a dwarf like the two Korea. Even small countries win more medals than Indian players because everything is in the hands of politically supported Sports Mafia. Remember when boxers were not provided with a taxi after they had won medals. Sport ministry is headed by non-sports people. It was alleged that girls are used for the selection of players in the cricket team. The ground reality is that if a child goes to a local cricket club he does not have any opportunity unless he has godfather overlooking his interests. Even the groundsman makes money by selling cricket kits. He sells the kits at a higher price than available in the market. This is how the difficult journey of a child player starts and ends up in misery. Only the tough ones who have someone to look after their interests get through. Recently hockey players threatened to go on strike. They were given their paltry amount of about Rs.2 lakh by the sports authorities when they refused to play in the World Cup Hockey to be played in India this year.Parasites on sports must go.Sports should be left for sportsmen. This did not happen only because of the government ....instead it was taken up by each citizen...it started from home to home.SO, May it be for games or any other reason , We as Indians, for the present moment I think we should stand by the nation, not criticizing but encouraging .. Unlike India, China does not have bureaucratic hurdles to overcome when it comes to development initiatives. India is a democracy and debates it way through every development initiative effort of the GoI before implementation whereas China is a one party dictatorship. And, also the last time I checked, while China celebrated 60 years of communism, Chinese citizens were confined to their bedroom watching Dong Feng-31 on TV. How cool!!! There is nothing too dandy about China nor too many things inferior about India. Just some perceived notions!
Have you seen in Delhi? The construction of the stadiums are not even 25% complete. Is it possible to complete the stadiums before October, 2010? What will happen if the stadiums cannot be made ready before the games?
I share your frustration. However, we should understand that it is bureaucratic hurdles that is hindering our progress. Indeed! it would be a matter of shame if anything such happens.
Then what's the solution? We have to find a way out to save our country from red tapism. Any idea, my friend?
GoI is taking steps in this regard. In the meantime, what we have to understand is that we are a democratic country. Even if speedy laws in favor of development are to be enacted, this would go through the process of: 1. Introduction 2. Debate 3. Acceptance/ rejection. Takes time
Indian Media should come forward to raise the nationalist wave among Indians with emotional thrust in coming Commonwealth games. All private TV Channels with Doordarshan may form one consortium and relay the commonwealth package nationalist program clubbed with music of Lata Mangeshkar ,Pandit Ravishankar, MR Rahaman voice of Amitava Bacchan,sports performance of Leander Peas, Sachin Tendulkar, Milkha Singh, P.T Usha, Baichung Bhutia, Saurav Ganguli , Kapil dev & others national athletes who will definitely give their best for national interest without remuneration. Sports Ministry should come forward to lead. Print Media can also contribute to motivate 1.2 billion Indians for such Mega events. Jai Hind !
Yes, the Indian media can play a significant role to create a wave of nationalism in the Commonwealth Games that we are going to organize. It's the time to show to the whole world that we are not lagging behind. We can create an elevated platform to bid for the Olympics too if Commonwealth Games is held maintaining the international standards.
