Indian cinema stands for its creativity and aesthetic exploration of arts and drama. Indian cinema has given most magnanimous and fine artists and actors of India who have become legendary and would always be remembered for their great artworks. In the recent few years, Indian cinema has become purely commercialized that has impacted the image of women artists to a greater extent. Indian cinema is now expecting the Women to reveal their new ‘avatar’ that is completely commercialized and meant for the sake of ‘entertainment’ of the audience. Indian cinema trying to objectify the women actresses. Presenting them as commercialized items who dance on item numbers while wooed by a bunch of men in a playful manner, that encourages the orthodox and traditional mentalities of men that women have always been wild and deceitful personalities who need to be controlled. Skinny women and those who can expose their bodies are given much preferences and in fact it has become a trend to do at least one item number in a movie so that that the fanciful and mystical side of the women could be revealed. This ‘Commodification’ of women is strengthening the poor values and throwing a poor light on women’s talent and potential. By objectifying the women’s image the cinema is feeding disgraceful thoughts in the minds of people that are further hampering the status and image of women in the society. What you do think about this?
