Child Labor is rampant in India. As per the statistics, 13,60,117 cases of child labor were inspected since the inception of the law in 1986, out of which a meager 49,092 cases were set into trial and a mere 4774 of them were actually convicted. Another horrifying fact of the child labor in India is that the convicted people were charged with a paltry penalty of Rs 100-200 and some were even charged with Rs 20-25. Lets hope that the new Law would be more practical and pragmatic.
Amendments of laws are necessary from time to time in order to meet the needs of the citizens with changing time. However, the laws that exists for prohibition of child labor is fine but the major flaw is not with the laws but with the interpretation and implementation of it. The amended act will be more practical and pragmatic but it depends on its proper implementation. Corruption as well is another major hindrance in implementation of laws. What do you think?
Exactly! Corruption does find it way through which does not allow laws to be properly implemented. But then corruption doesn't take place at all the times and at all places. If the law is perfect, then we can atleast hope of child being given justice. Otherwise, there wouldn't even be a ray of hope. What say you?
Corruption is the major problem and hindrance in proper implementation of law. Even if the laws are perfect, the machineries of Law are corrupt and this is the reason that child labour still exist. If these machineries work properly and if we all become law abiding citizens, there will exist no problem in our society and child labour can also be eliminated.
