    Think about it!!!!

I read your message on women smoking and drinking.well, let me tell you it is as bad for women as it is for men.rather then talking on the reaction of people when they see a woman smoking, lets think it this way.I have seen people frown even when they see a man smoking in public.Having fun is great but please !!!! not at the cost of your health or your life.Only a healthy person can give out a healthy new generation.A healthy bunch of kids can do wonders for our country.

    JUST THINK ABOUT IT

    Smoking and women...hmmm

That is how it is in India, people don't take it well when they see a woman smoking... but the thing is that smokers don't like to be told to quit smoking, but the effect it has on women is much more as compared to men

yes, i have noticed that too. but if you go in some urban quarters, smoking amongst women is normal and people do not stare with surprise. so i think as time passes it wont be that odd a thing after all.

But the thing is that smoking causes more harm to the woman's body thn a man...it is a risky habit. Smoking, a Risky Habit for Women I am in the process of collecting opinions from people on tobacco in India. So what do you think?

yes, smoking is dangerous for a person's health, no doubt about that. each and every smoker i have met in my life know that smoking is harmful for their health. but the topic was how Indian people percieve women who smoke.

    Hi Seema,

This is a individual opinion and not binding on any one.

Smoking is injurious to health and it’s not common in India for girls to smoke as I would not like my wife or daughter to smoke. If your friend is 18 years of age and have an income to support her habit I think it’s her personal wish and no one has any business commenting it.

There is no culture thing to this coz if you go to inner villages it is common to see ladies smoking and chewing tobacco or having some form of addiction. These ladies are illiterate and ignorant of the ill effects of their addiction. If a educated girl or boy picks up this habit knowing fully well the downside of it then it is a personal choice.

However it’s my duty to tell you it is injurious to health

I am more concerned to the health and wellness rather than what other people will say if you are smoking or not, specially the women. I'm not in favor of smoking even if it's a guy who smoke. We all know that cigarette smoking is dangerous to our health, so I don't promote this kind of stuff.

Indian culture has been biased from the beginning so when they stare at a women who smokes it is considered 'bad'.. But otherwise smoke can damage a person seriously.. specially for women, cause even when she stops its gonna have affect later

    Why not?

What stops Indian women from smoking if they can manage to purchase something to smoke? In rural India its not so uncommon to see women smoking, but urban India is a different story altogether. Major reason is that in urban areas more men than women venture outside for work and so men are more prone to such exposures. People usually stare at women smoking in public because its a rare sight.

    Can women smoke

It is correctly said that it is individual decision no one has write to comment on it however smoking is injurious to health so its better to avoid it instead of doing that.Smartness or status never built if u become a smoker. So according to me instead of getting ill be healthy and enjoy your life.
    AVOID SMOKING INCREASE YOUR LIFE.:)

    They can

Yes they can smoke,In changing India it will also become common day wait for some time no one will ask women if she smoke also. But if you see Indian he still want the women we know the women in saari, the women with shy and lazza with her.
Women are played very Importent role in the culture of India and if women remains as she is in her culture then India's Culture will remain.

I am not opposing anything here not women smoking nor her developing i am just saying we still need women who say to her husbend stop smoking not sit with him and smoke

smoking is injurious to health in india and in US as well

As smoking is injurious to health. I understand u understand everybody understand well. But still we smoke for status, for loosing tension. We know it chokes lungs cells but who cares. I have to die one day or other. I smell bad when I smoke who cares. I have a feeling of guilt when I smoke publicly as India is not "modern" and "open minded" as the west but who cares. Life is not easy for a partner who don't smoke but who cares it is his problem. The partner who lives under the same roof gets addicted indirectly but who cares. So it is not just limited to INDIAN WOMEN OR US WOMEN OR JAPANESE WOMEN.what is good is good in any part f globe and what is bad is bad? To decide about it is in my hands and wisdom. CHOICE IS ENTIRELY MINE.

well...I USED SMOKE...i have been off smoking for a week now(not that long i know but i am trying)...and believe me its a DIFFICULT task to get rid of it.

but I have realised one thing, that if a guy at your work places, knows that "this" girl smoke, his attitude towards you changes.

He "assumes" that the girl has loose character and is "easy" !!

But thats NOT the case, only if these smart asses realize!!!
