Have seen that no matter India is developing in many areas but still it has a long way to go. Today women of India are redefining the position of women, but some where the differences are clearly visible. Since, Indian culture is rich with mythological background there are always rituals that are to be followed by women and rarely by men. Women keep fast for the long life of their husband, kids and if they are unable to get suitable groom for marriage. However, never such things are imposed on men. Why is this gender biasness, even when female have proved in making equal mark?

fasting for husband and kids is a thing our culture has followed for years now. nevertheless, Indian woman has began proving their worth now.
many Indian women today dont believe in fasting and carrying out such rituals, although, there are several men who support their wives by not eating on karwachauth with them..
that's not just a part of culture, but also a personal perspective.
today, there isnt any liability that indian woman fulfil. its their personal choice, as those who do not follow such rituals so not really face much criticism, and and and...
those who do.. they dont really give it a damn!

well we cant blame anyone for this because this is coming from the past since ages as this was practiced by our ancestors without any hesitations. we are slowly evolving and so will our culture. expecting a sharp change in the society and living of a group of people cannot be expected.

Keeping fast for well being and long life of husbands and kids by women is an age of practice and this is one of the most distinct feature of Indian culture. In my view it is not biasness rather it portrays the love of a women for her husband and kids. Keeping fast for religious purpose by women is a part of our culture and it is not basiness because they do it to show their respect and devotion to God. Even males do keep fast for religious purpose.

I agree that Indian culture is at times biased towards women as they were considered to be the most vulnerable section of our society. However, the things are changing and so our society. Today, it has been witnessed that even men keep fast for their wives and no longer the inequality exist in our society.
