People across the length and breadth of the nation recently marked the first anniversary of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. They paid homage to the victims and martyrs. On the occasion, parades and other small functions were organized all over the country. Mumbai city police also held a parade to pay homage to their colleagues killed in the dastardly strikes. Another such parade was organized in the Nariman Point area, which was attended by Maharashtra's newly formed counter terror unit, Force One, and Quick Response Teams (QRT). Although the whole nation was soaked in the feeling of sorrow, what is still need to be answered is why the government has failed to take any action so far…Why the government is still tied in diplomatic chains? Why even after arresting Abdul Kasab, the government did nothing than just asking questions from Pakistan? Is the government waiting for another Kandhar scene, giving a chance to the terrorist groups to again hijack a plan and force the government to release Kasab in lieu of innocent lives ? Why the government failed to take any concrete action? How can a country which is not able to save its people from terrorism can dream of becoming the global superpower? Most surprising comment came from Chief Minister Ashok Chavan and his deputy Chhagan Bhujbal, who were present at the event at Nariman point. Although they assured people that the State government would not allow terrorists to launch a similar attack in the coming years, he proudly claimed that his government had spent Rs 31 crore (or nearly Rs 85 lakh per day) to keep 26/11 attacker Ajmal Kasab alive, safe and secure to stand trial. Why such an amount being Spent on his security when millions in the country die every day due to hunger?
