Well, given the fact that white beauty isn't so true why, are Indians more than any other race in the world so obsessed with fairness? Even though most of Gods and Goddess are dark and beautiful, still people prefer white....

Some people regard it as a colonial hangover....what is your take?

    Personal choice

Well it is pretty obvious that fair skin seems to be more attractive. But, obsession with such is wrong. Ofcourse the Indian jab=nts has a desire to be fairer and thats why, advertisements for fair and lovely and fair and handsome work in this country. I don't want to be typical and blame the advertisers as I believe the advertisements only bring about the people desire.

Too much obsessed with the fairness

Yes, Indian women are to some extent wanted to be fair and beautiful. They do different kinds treatments; use various cosmetics so that they may look fair and pretty. They often try to have fair skin; they think that everyone like the fair complexioned women. The Indians are really obsessed with the fairness and it is some thing put in the mind from the early life of a girl.
